The Mission Soapbox Derby is guided by a dedicated team of volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure our racing program thrives. Meet the passionate individuals who make it all possible.

Joe Del Grosso

President
Joe has been involved with soap box racing for many years, starting as a parent volunteer before taking on leadership roles. He oversees all derby operations.

Greg Becker

Vice President
Greg brings extensive event planning experience to the derby and assists with race day coordination and volunteer management.

Coleen Battel

Treasurer
With a background in accounting, Kathy manages the derby's finances, sponsorships, and fundraising efforts.

Tara Calder

Secretary
Tara handles all derby communications, meeting minutes, and maintains our official records and documents.

Jim Hermanson

Technical Director
Jim oversees car inspections, technical rules compliance, and provides building assistance to new participants.

John Shortridge

Marketing Director
John manages the derby's Sponsorship division. He reaches out to our various sponsors and helps to bring in new sponsors year over year so that we can continue to host events all year long

Mary Reber

Events Coordinator
Mary plans and organizes our many fundraising events throughout the year.

Geri Vailancourt

Volunteer Director
Geri recruits, trains, and schedules the many volunteers needed to make our derby events successful.

Daryl Derksen

Social Media Director/Track Advisor
Daryl keeps track of and operates our social media presence on facebook, twitter, youtube, and other social media sites. He also maintains or Website and ensure our track each year is safe for racing.
